              Fight against fuel poverty

              In May 2013, Schneider Electric announced the launch of a programme to fight fuel poverty in mature economies. For the Group, global specialist in energy management, it is a matter of addressing the energy gap by committing to the populations from the base of the pyramid all over the world.

              The Schneider Electric Foundation contributes to this programme by developing partnerships to support directly the most disadvantaged households facing energy poverty.

              This contribution is part of a broader program against fuel poverty that develops, in mature economies, a similar approach to the one already led by the Group since 2009 for access to energy in new economies , with its BipBop programme .

              This programme leans on three main vectors:

              • The awareness and the training of underprivileged populations, via partnerships with associations fighting fuel poverty. Recent partnerships developed by the Schneider Electric Foundation are along this line;
              • The investment in social and solidarity-based enterprises turned towards better living conditions through clean and efficient energy. The impact-investment fund Schneider Electric Energy Access is instrumental in this field;
              • The development of a dedicated and well-adapted offer for the people in fuel poverty situation to help them measure their consumption and acquire fuel-saving habits in the long term.
